Nach seiner Ausbildung am Lette Verein Berlin arbeitet 
Moritz Hoffmann seit mehr als 25 Jahren als professioneller Fotograf.
Parallel zu seiner Auftragsarbeit verfolgt er eine konsequente freie künstlerische Praxis, in der er die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des fotografischen Bildes erforscht.
Im Zentrum seiner Arbeit steht die Frage, wie Bedeutung entsteht – nicht im einzelnen Bild, sondern in der Beziehung zwischen Bildern. Seine Fotografien bewegen sich zwischen dokumentarischer Beobachtung und konzeptioneller Fotografie. Sie entstehen unabhängig voneinander und entfalten ihre eigentliche Form erst in der bewussten Gegenüberstellung.
Mit dem fortlaufenden Projekt ONE AND ONE IS ONE formuliert Hoffmann eine eigenständige Position innerhalb der zeitgenössischen Fotografie. Das Bildpaar wird zur kleinsten künstlerischen Einheit. Die Beziehung zwischen zwei Fotografien eröffnet einen Wahrnehmungs- und Bedeutungsraum, der über das einzelne Motiv hinausweist. Das Werk entsteht nicht allein durch die Aufnahme, sondern durch die Konstellation der Bilder. Diese relationale Auffassung von Fotografie bildet den Kern seiner künstlerischen Praxis und versteht das fotografische Bild nicht als abgeschlossene Darstellung, sondern als offenes System visueller Beziehungen.
Hoffmanns Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit den Bedingungen des Sehens, der Wahrnehmung und der Frage, wie fotografische Bilder ihre Bedeutung erst im Kontext entfalten.

After graduating from the Lette Verein in Berlin, he has worked as a professional photographer for more than 25 years. Alongside his commissioned work, he has developed a consistent independent artistic practice exploring the possibilities and limitations of the photographic image.

At the core of his work lies the question of how meaning is generated—not within the individual image, but through the relationship between images. His photographs exist at the intersection of documentary observation and conceptual photography. Created independently of one another, they reveal their full potential only through deliberate juxtaposition.

With the ongoing project ONE AND ONE IS ONE, Hoffmann has developed a distinct position within contemporary photography. The photographic pair becomes the smallest artistic unit. The relationship between two photographs opens a perceptual and conceptual space that extends beyond the individual image. The work emerges not solely through the act of photographing, but through the constellation of images. This relational understanding of photography forms the foundation of his artistic practice, treating the photographic image not as a self-contained representation, but as an open system of visual relationships.

Hoffmann's work explores the conditions of seeing, perception, and the ways in which photographic images generate meaning through context and relation.
